Context

Why Madrid, why now

Autonomous mobility stops being a pilot and becomes a market in 2026. Madrid is where Europe's deployment, regulation and capital meet.

Deployment

Autonomous vehicles arrive in Madrid

Uber will deploy autonomous vehicles in Madrid before the end of 2026 — alongside London and Munich — using the Nuro Driver SAE Level 4 platform on the Lucid Gravity.

Testing

Europe's largest regulatory sandbox

The Villaverde Mobility Sandbox offers 20 km² of real urban environment for testing autonomous and connected mobility.

In service

Spain's first Level 4 autonomous bus

EMT put Spain's first SAE Level 4 autonomous bus into service in September 2025, rated 8.4/10 by users.

Regulation

A decisive regulatory year

2026 brings the UNECE global regulation on ADS, the EU Automotive Industrial Action Plan and the DGT's ES-AV framework programme.

Global outlook01

The International Outlook of Autonomous Mobility

How China, the US and Europe are racing to scale AV adoption in 2026: data sovereignty, chip restrictions, global standards vs. EU regulation.

Operations02

Lessons from Europe's live pilots

What London, Oslo and Leuven have learned about running autonomous services in real cities.

Regulation03

Regulation for Autonomous Mobility: From Europe to Spanish Law

A roadmap toward operative Level 4 regulation before 2028.

Madrid roadmap04

The Roadmap for Madrid: Lessons from European Pilots

What governance model, technology and network integration should Madrid choose, and do differently?

Passenger transport05

Autonomous Driving in Passenger Transport

Real-world lessons from operators already running Level 4 fleets.

Logistics06

Autonomous Mobility and Logistics: Transforming the Supply Chain

From last-mile urban delivery to interurban freight corridors and aerial cargo.

Beyond the Stage: Autonomous Bus Experience at Mercamadrid

Two days of debate on autonomous mobility deserve a real-world experience.

Thanks to our Silver Partner, ALSA, registered attendees of MAMS2026 are invited to join a visit to Mercamadrid to see Spain's first autonomous, on-demand bus in operation.

Since July 2026, this 100% electric bus has been carrying passengers on a regular basis within Mercamadrid, operating at Level 4+ automation with an operator on board. It has room for 30 passengers and uses 5G connectivity to interact continuously with the surrounding infrastructure.

The project is led by Madrid City Council, through its Digital Office, and Mercamadrid, with the collaboration of Alsa.
